How to choose a LED strip light

1. Wattage

The wattage of the led strip light is generally watts per meter. From 4W to 20W or more, if the wattage is too low, it will be too dark; if the wattage is too high, it will be overexposed. Generally, 8W-14W is recommended.

2. Number of LEDs per meter

The led strip light emits uneven light and the graininess is too obvious. This is because there are too few LEDs per meter of led strips, and the light emission of the LED strip lights is too short, the gap is relatively large.

Generally speaking, the number of LEDs per meter of strip light ranges from dozens to hundreds. For ordinary decoration, the number of LEDs can be controlled at 120/m, or you can directly buy COB light strips. Compared with conventional SMD LED strip lights, COB light strips emit light more evenly.

3. Color temperature

The color temperature commonly used in stores is 4000K-5000K.3000K is yellowish, 3500K is warm white,4000K is more like natural light, 5000K is more like cool white light. The color temperature of all led light strips in the same area is consistent.

4. Color rendering index

It is the index of the degree of restoration of the color of the object to the light. This is also a parameter that is often overlooked. The higher the color rendering index, the closer it is to natural light. In some special use environments, such as schools, it is generally recommended that the CRI should be higher than 90Ra, preferably higher than 98Ra.

If it is just for decoration, Ra70/Ra80/Ra90 are all acceptable.

5. Voltage drop

This is an issue that many people tend to overlook. Generally, there will be voltage drop when the led strip light is 5 meters, 10 meters and 20 meters long. The brightness of the light strips is different at the beginning and end. When buying a LED strip light, you must understand clearly how long is the distance for the LED strip lights to have no voltage drop.

6. Cutting distance

LED strip lights are sold by roll or meter, you can buy longer ones. Generally, there will be some wear and tear during installation, so the excess LED strip light can be cut off.When cutting the LED strips, pay attention to the cutting distance. Generally, the cutting distance is centimeter per cut, for example, 2.5 cm, 5 cm.Pay special attention to places with high dimensional accuracy requirements. For example, for the LED strip lights inside the wardrobe, try to choose a one-LED-one-cut LED strip lights, and each LED can be cut at will.

7. Transformer

Low voltage LED strip light is normally used for indoor or dry place decoration because of it's safe,it seems economic.Actually the total cost of one set low voltage LED strip light with transformer is not low,sometimes it's more than high voltage LED strip light.The transformer can be hidden in the hole of the spot light or down light, or the air outlet of the central air conditioner, convenient for replacement.Therefore, it is important to know the size of the transformer in advance and plan the hidden location of the transformer.

The high voltage 220V/240V/110V is without transformer,the overall cost is actually lowerthan the low voltage LED strip light12V, 24V DC,but its installation and safety require professional operations if cut led strip in different length.If you use it in rolls or you know how to install,it's easty to install.
